The rioting and looting are indicative of a community with policy makers, (& in particular the police) that didn’t build any “capital” to begin with which is the trust and confidence required in a relationship between the people and their governments. Without capital, and with a police force that is 90% white and completely disconnected from it’s citizenry they have operated out of fear. Fear means they were and are not fit for duty. Michael Brown was shot 6 to 8 times… what about shooting to wound if they need to stop a “suspect”? The shooting that just took place in St. Louis also did not need to shoot to kill, but they did. I’m not condoning robbery, but the reactions to the crimes remind me of lynchings (just with guns). The police department’s job is to serve and protect the community, not gun them down. I hope Eric Holder’s investigation will actually launch institutional change. Starting with the firing of the Chief for wrongful training and hiring of a police force. The police officer who shot Michael needs to be tried for homicide.
Your work is very powerful. Goes straight to the heart.

I agree, in countries like Greece, Spain, and Brazil…when the people are being raped by student loans, by banks, corporations…THEY RIOT!!! If cops killing our kids with impunity isn’t reason enough to riot….then what is? And thanks, somebody told me picture is worth a thousand words…so instead of writing too much about what happened, I said let me just draw some pictures…..Plus I think CNN’s coverage pissed me off the most though…I won’t even get in to that.
